I've been a longtime customer of ORCSWeb and have been extremely happy with their service and support over the last several years. I have had experience with other hosting companies, including several that are no longer around like DataReturn and Innerhost. Perhaps their shortcomings led to their demise -- None of these other hosting companies could touch ORCSWeb for customer service responsiveness and skill level. Some years ago, with one of these "other" hosting providers, I actually had to explain to a 'technician' how to install a COM object on the web server. I've never had anything like that experience with ORCSWeb, where my requests are usually handled within minutes.
It is true that a company is only as good as its people, and a few individuals deserve special attention for making OW one of the best hosting companies available. Brad Kingsley is ulimately responsible for ORCSWeb, and he is a Microsoft MVP for ASP/ASP.NET. This alone says quite a bit about the company. In addition to providing great technical support for his customers, Brad is also supportive of the ASP/.NET developer community, frequently answering questions on lists and forums. He stays on top of the latest server technology and is usually one of the first people I ask when I have a question about IIS or server configuration. He's also great to work with and very supportive. His close relationship with Microsoft's ASP.NET team, as evidenced by his membership in the ASPInsiders, also ensures that ORCSWeb will remain on the leading edge of Microsoft web-based technology.
A relatively recent addition to the ORCSWeb team, Scott Forsyth is another super-helpful technical guru. Scott can answer just about any question I have, and typically goes above and beyond the call of duty by installing beta software or test configurations of things in order to answer 'for instance' and 'what if?' questions I might pose to him. Scott is also a member of the ASPInsiders group.
The rest of the ORCSWeb team is also great, and together they ensure that my sites stay up and running pretty much all the time. If my sites ever do experience downtime, which might happen a couple of times per year, they invariably know about it well before I do and make sure I'm apprised of the situation immediately. There have been several occasions where my own carelessness has introduced a bug into the site that the folks at ORCSWeb have detected, and sometimes even corrected for me, quickly, thus minimizing my site's downtime.
Recently, ORCSWeb added support for Lyris Listservs to support the ASPAdvice.com community. Even more impressive, they are now hosting www.asp.net and all of the related sample applications, including the ASP.NET Forums. ORCSWeb was selected for this, I'm sure, because of their superior responsiveness and technical capabilities. And as a moderator of the ASP.NET Forums as well as a user, the difference in performance since the move is spectacular.
I have used ORCSWeb to host a number of sites, both large and small, and have found their service and support to be exceptional, no matter how simple or complex the site's configuration (and few are as complex as ASPAlliance.com has grown to be, let me assure you). If you're looking for a hosting provider who knows ASP.NET, really cares about taking care of each individual customer, and will stay current (both hardware and personnel skills) with the latest technology, then look no further than ORCSWeb.
