Converting .NET Framework VB.NET or Visual Basic 6.0 code to C#Links and Downloads
Most .NET developers have a definate preference for using either VB.NET or C#. However, there may be many occasions on when it is preferable (or indeed essential) to use either VB.NET or C#. Common scenarios include:
C# developers in particular are likely to come across a large number of legacy applications that need to be converted from Visual Basic 6.0 to C#, or find VB.NET code that needs to be converted to C#. While there are a number of websites available that will convert small amounts of VB.NET to C#, they are very time consuming to use when an entire application has to be converted. A much better solution is to use an automated tool to handle the entire conversion process. The VBConversions' VB.Net to C# converter will automate the process of converting entire applications to C# with the minimum of fuss. A unique selling point is that the tool will suggest changes that can be made to VB.NET code before it is converted to C#. This will greatly aid the conversion process and will lead to much better quality C# code being created by the conversion process. Converting VB.NET ASP.NET Web Applications to C# Web ApplicationsThe VBConversions' VB.Net to C# converter is also able to convert ASP.NET web applications written in VB.NET to their C# equivalents. Alas, there is no ASP to ASP.NET converter available, but you may find the ASP Documentation Tool useful for assessing what work would be involved in converting ASP to ASP.NET. Converting Visual Basic 6.0 (VB) Applications to C# .NETAlthough the VBConversions VB.Net to C# converter will not directly convert Visual Basic 6.0 applications to C#, it is possible to use a two stage process to convert them. The first stage involves using the Visual Basic 6.0 to VB.NET converter wizard that is built in to Visual Studio.NET (the VB.NET language parts of Visual Studio must be installed in order to use this). Once the application has been converted to VB.NET it is then possible to use the VB.Net to C# converter to convert the intermediate VB.NET application to .NET. This two stage process would save many hours compared to converting the application by hand, and is the easiest way of converting legacy Visual Basic 6.0 applications to their C# equivalents.
