Great cardio workout, it tones you up, too, without pressure on the ankles or knees, without jumping around. When it comes to the toning section, I must say that I wasn't that thrilled. The classic callanetics workout (10/10) is way better. The positions on the floor change without prior warning which is most inconvenient! I guess that if you learn the routine by heart, it must become easier to follow. Other than that, I didn't feel soar after the toning workout which would be the point of a new movement sequence for someone like me (=not so toned): either I didn't get it right, or it simply isn't so effective whatsoever...Overall it's good for a change.

I wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews, but I tried this today and I LOVE IT. First, the cardio. The cardio section so gentle to the joints, so low-impact, and made me feel graceful even though I'm not. :) But here's the kicker: even with these slower, flowing movements, my heart rate monitor registered 360 calories burned...in under 30 minutes of aerobics! I'm impressed! The whole workout just stretched me out and obviously got my heart rate up there. Awesome. I was working in or above that 70-80% zone the entire cardio section.

The cardio section is followed by about 35 minutes of Callanetics toning exercises. I already knew I'd like those. This section won't replace a full traditional Callanetics workout, but I don't think it's meant to, and I still feel it. These new videos place an emphasis on tightening the pelvic floor muscles (you know...the ones that get all stretched out and wrecked during childbirth, resulting in unpleasant side effects--if ya know what I mean). I had never realized how closely related those muscles are to the lower abs. They say in the video that tightening the pelvic floor will also engage your lower abdominals, and if you do that during these exercises (both the cardio and toning parts), you'll feel that. All told, this whole workout (a little over an hour) burned 687 calories!

I can't wait to try the Callanetics Evolution (toning only) tomorrow. But I really love this cardio section. I didn't expect to be so sweaty by the end. BONUS!

Great video. I love all the Callentic videos! I am 52 and while active I no longer want to jump up and down and do the same cardio as when I was younger. I was having back problems and decided the Callentics Evolution would be the one to most benifit my back. I was right! When I do it regularly, My lower back doesn't bother me at all! Wow! Its all about being in allingment and building those core muscles. This workout goes even a step futher and adds a great cardio that is knee and back friendly. I am in no way inferring that this is a video for just us older women. Not So!! I am quite limber and young for my age. I have been actively doing Yoga and Pilates and even some ballet exercises for years and am more limber that many of the younger women in my aquantance. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have perfect posture and strong core muscles. Also recommend it for the relaxation as well. After doing this, I am ready to tackle the world!

The tape consists of two parts: cardio and toning. No equipment is needed at all.
I am new to Callanetics, but I really loved the cardio part. Dance-like moves are more about coordination and balance, than hard cardiotraining. Be aware.
Toning part is explained well, so there are pauses between moves. But, really,this part is not challenging at all, except one ab exercise, which you can find in Pilates and Lotte Berk. I believe that Callanetics helped a lot of women, but , really, I had to fight not to fall asleep! As one angry comment said about Callanetics : "It is a workout if you never worked out". I would not recommend you this if you are looking for "dynamic" toning and shaping, although the cardio part is great and different from traditional Callanetics!

This is an excellent workout if you like more of a low impact, body toning type of exercise. It is so much easier on the joints than a high impact workout, and you get all the benefits. Muscles get toned, and the cardio workout is surprisingly very good, without causing any pain. I enjoy the workout, it's relaxing, and i always work up a sweat. I highly recommend it.
